Talking About Eye-Related Health Problems

Hello, my name is Gary May. Welcome to my site about health conditions affecting the eyes. The old saying goes that eyes are the windows to the soul. However, eyes are also the windows to various organs throughout the body. Problems in those organs often present in remarkable ways in the eyes. Eye doctors can pinpoint the health condition by performing an exam using a specially designed scope. Furthermore, eyes also act as our windows to the world beyond our being. Health conditions that affect the eyes can often worsen and cause the patient to lose their ability to see clearly. I would like to discuss all of these health conditions in more detail on this site. I hope you will come back again soon. Thanks.

Signs Its Time to Get Your Vision Checked

Are you wondering if it is time to get an eye examination? An eye examination may be necessary to save your vision. It is good practice for everyone to get their eyes checked at least once per year. If you have been delaying an eye examination, and are wondering if you should even cancel it altogether, the following are some of the main signs that you need to go in for an eye exam.

Pain In Your Eye

One of the major signs that you need to see an eye doctor is when you start experiencing pain in your eyes. Pain in the eye can be caused by an infection in your eye. It can also be caused by straining your eye. Your eyes may become strained from squinting too much or opening them wide because you are having difficulty seeing. If you have eye pain do not delay getting an eye exam as it will reveal exactly what the problem is.

Blurred Vision

Another reason why you should go in for an eye exam is blurry vision. If your vision suddenly gets blurry then this could be an emergency situation. This is especially true if you have had trauma to your head.

However, if your vision has slowly become blurry over time it may not be an emergency but it is an indicator that your vision needs to be examined. It may be that you need glasses or contact lenses to correct your vision. Going in to get your eye examined is the only way to confirm this.

Sensitivity to Light

Another reason why you may need to get your eye examined is if you have developed a sensitivity to light. Sudden sensitivity to light could be a sign that your vision is failing or you may even have an eye infection.

The best way to know for sure is to book an eye appointment as soon as possible. If you're not careful these symptoms can get worse and your vision may become damaged more than it needs to be. If light sensitivity is also accompanied by dry itchy eyes, you may also need to get treated for this as well. Often light sensitivity and dry eyes can happen when you spend too much time in front of your computer.

As soon as you notice that something is going wrong with your vision it is best to get it checked right away. The sooner you get a check, the more likely it is that you will not suffer severe eye damage.
